Prowler Cub 400 - Efficiency and Comfort for Long Distance Cruising

The Prowler Cub 400 is the newly launched offspring of the Prowler 450 Powercat. It is aimed at everyone from the seasoned sea traveler, to the young family looking for a compact, comfortable vessel capable of cruising long distances, or exploring the inland waterways and the canals of the world.

Driven by sophisticated, powerful 240hp Yanmar diesel engines offering a speed of 24 knots-plus, this craft is capable of taking you anywhere. For the less adventurous and more economy-minded, there are the 156hp engines allowing for a comfortable turn of speed at 15knots. The high speed enthusiast can also be catered to if the Cub is fitted with twin 315hp engines, which give it that added burst of power.

Comfort Across the Sea

Seaworthiness is essential for offshore use, and the Prowler Cub is capable of traversing the roughest of oceans.

From the facility in South Africa, Charter Cats boats are delivered on their own bottoms to destinations around the world.

Not an Average Cruiser

The Prowler Cub's hull-type offers a very comfortable ride at high cruising speeds, even in rough conditions. The ability to be fully efficient at all speed ranges makes fuel economy its strong point. At cruising speeds it is quite possible to have a 1000 mile range, making it a true cruising cat, easily capable of crossing oceans, or perhaps exploring the Pacific.

The cat hull offers huge internal space, making it possible to have 4 double cabins with en-suites for luxury charter. The big saloon, cockpit and galley make the Prowler Cub a real home away from home.

The flybridge offers a second (or primary) steering station. This is well sheltered and shaded, and can be closed in for protection in bad weather. And the aft section is ideal for sunbathing, or relaxing with your favorite book and bottle of wine.

Prowler, Not Plower

Engine installation is quite flexible in terms of final position, especially with the smaller power units. Weight is kept as central as possible, but this can be adjusted with fuel and water tanks. This allows a wider choice of layouts in the hull, optimizing personal preferences and needs.

The underwater lines are simple and clean with a long straight keel line. The props and rudders are fully protected, making the Prowler Cub easy to beach or moor in shallow creeks. This makes it very safe, user friendly, and easy to maintain.

The Prowler Cub 400 is an exciting, efficient Powercat, a pleasure to use and own. It is not one of the "sport-fisher" type cruisers you’ll see plowing along at low speed ... and "still" plowing along at high speed.

The fuel dock won’t like this new style cat, but surely your bank account will.

Speed will depend a little on the "build" weight and equipment choice in the Prowler Cub 400.   It is simply a matter of power to weight ratio, but this cat has the big advantage of basic efficiency in design.
