Boat Review: Tartan 4100 - 2003

We had only 3 weeks to get used to the boat and how she handled before our month long cruise. She handled beautifully. We left Annapolis on a Wednesday with strong winds (22 to 25kts) from the south and we never tacked the entire trip to Newport. The 4100 handled well in the winds and seas so much so that all of my crew, all experienced racers, were very impressed with her sailing abilities.

Owner Comments: We took delivery of our Tartan on July, 3rd, 2003 and I sailed her north from Annapolis to Newport on July 23rd. Thus, we had only 3 weeks to get used to the boat and how she handled before our month long cruise.

Once in New England, we sailed to Cuttyhunk, Woods Hole, Vineyard Haven and Edgartown. The Leisure Furl main will be a nice addition but it is a system that takes quite of bit of finesse to get right. Plus, I am still not able to sail the boat single handed because of the Leisure Furl but I hope to cconquer that this sailing season.

All in all, we are very pleased with our 4100 and look forward to many years of sailing her.
