Bond Boats: Diamonds Are Forever Bath-O-Sub

The underwater bath-o-sub is one of two originally featured in the film and was used by 007’s nemesis, Blofeld, to escape from the oil-drilling platform that doubled as his headquarters. It can be seen as Blofeld climbs inside and is lowered over the side of the oil platform.

Bond Boats: Diamonds Are Forever Bath-O-Sub

The underwater bath-o-sub is one of two originally featured in the film and was used by 007’s nemesis, Blofeld, to escape from the oil-drilling platform that doubled as his headquarters.

This is the submarine used in the final sequences of Diamonds are Forever when Blofeld attempts to escape from his offshore oil rig based laboratory. Blofeld was left inside this bathosub which was dangling from a crane as the platform blew to pieces. There were two bathosubs built for the movie. Peter Lamont says that one was a stunt Bathosub which was filled with concrete and used to smash through the wall of the computer room. The other, the one owned by The Foundation, was used for the close up shots filmed at Pinewood Studios.
