Hunter Marine's sleek new 45 Center Cockpit
Hunter's New 45CC is the "Center" of Attention with its Extraordinary Style, Value and Amazing Accommodations
Hunter Marine launches the sleek new 45 Center Cockpit (CC), a "breakthrough" boat that reinforces its domination of the center cockpit cruiser market.
"The new 45 is truly a breakthrough boat," said John Peterson, Hunter's director of sales and marketing. "It combines all the comforts of a center cockpit with an exciting new look, surprising performance, and great value in a boat that is long-range cruising capable."
The "45 CC," as it is known, replaces the popular Hunter 456, which - along with the 420 - has dominated the center cockpit sailboat market in North America. It has been refined from volumes of customer feedback, coupled with the design inspiration of Warren Luhrs and the Hunter Design Team, led by Director of Engineering Glenn Henderson.
A Center Cockpit that Works
"A center cockpit is often a design challenge because of the cockpit location," said Henderson. "We took a long time playing with floorboard height, the flow of the boat fore and aft and the center of gravity. If you look at the new 45 from the side, it's hard to tell it's a center cockpit because it's so sleek and streamlined."
Henderson says the 45's unique wrap-around windshield and low profile debunks the myth that center cockpits have to be boxy. "This is an absolutely great-looking boat!" he said.
 Spectacular Master Stateroom
The focal point of a mid-cockpit cruiser is always the aft master stateroom, and Hunter delivers a spectacular cabin with an abundant 6'5" of headroom. The island berth features a queen-size innerspring mattress topped by a decorator headboard, adjustable reading lamps and four storage drawers beneath. Luxurious Corian® has been used generously atop the twin nightstands, a movable dresser, and vanity table with mirror. Cushioned bench seating is situated port and starboard. Two cedar-lined hanging closets round out the generous storage that's suitable for the long-term live-aboard or transatlantic cruiser.
The master stateroom's private head has a full stall shower with adjustable height shower head, molded-in seating, raised teak-slat flooring and bi-fold door. The Corian® countertop vanity is mirrored with a storage cabinet beneath.
Guest Stateroom with 6'3" of Headroom
The 45's incredible roominess and accommodations continue in a forward guest stateroom that has outstanding 6'3" headroom.
A wide double v-berth with innerspring mattress, built-in dressing seat, dual adjustable reading lights, and two opening deck hatches enhance comfort and livability.
Often-overlooked storage for guests is generously provided by a cedar hanging locker with shelves and 6' of teak shelving along each bulkhead. A private head with shower stall, Corian® vanity and storage shelves are also sure to please the crew.
 Spacious Salon
Even more spacious is the salon area with an amazing 6'11" of headroom. The large wrap-around windows brighten the comfortable living area with natural light and show off the exceptional teak woodwork and glossy Everwear® laminate flooring throughout. A sizable dinette area with solid teak table seats six and converts to a double berth; a full size Ultraleather™ settee is starboard. Entertainment options include a 23" flat panel TV and Bose® CD/DVD AM/FM entertainment system. Dimmable overhead fluorescent lights are a new feature offered by Hunter.
The highlight for most captains is sure to be the impressive nav station, complete with custom swivel Navigator's Chair. The space was designed to accommodate either new Raymarine® E-series multifunction displays for paperless navigation, or a large opening chart table and plotting gear storage cabinet. An adjustable chart light, 12 volt and 110 outlets, phone jack and bonus cabinet space make the nav station a complete hub for keeping the 45 on course. The electronics display can also be output to the salon's 23" monitor which is a great way to involve the crew in tracking the voyage.
Long-range cruisers and live-aboards know a smart galley is crucial for making time aboard enjoyable, and the 45's galley has all the chef and crew appointments needed.
 Hunter's Smart Galley
Appliances include a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, propane two-burner gimbaled stove with oven, and microwave with built-in coffee maker - all are stainless steel for a luxurious, custom look. Corian® counter tops with solid teak fiddles, double stainless sinks, and 14 separate storage areas complete a galley that can handle anything from gourmet meals to fast snacks.
Above deck, Hunter includes "ease of sailing" features that have become company trademarks. The backstayless B & R rig (allowing a full roach main) and overhead traveler arch are among the most prominent. All internal halyards end at the cockpit for easy single-handed sailing. Even better sailing performance is available with a new optional vertical batten system and in-mast furling.
Standard auxiliary power is a very strong 75 HP Yanmar® turbocharged diesel turning a three-bladed prop. Fuel capacity is 75 gallons.
"Hunter is applying new state-of-the-art assembly processes to execute highly refined cruising boats that provide exceptional value," said Peterson. "The 45CC is different from anything we've had before, and based on all the customer feedback we've received already, we expect it to be a home run."
