The Island Packet 440 - Innovative New Features And Stunning Good Looks

Island Packet 440

The aft cockpit 440 possesses all the exemplary qualities that have earned Island Packet a worldwide reputation as the leader of cruising boat design and construction. Naval architect Bob Johnson and the Island Packet design team have created the 440 by combining the superior comfort, ease of use, seakeeping, and safety attributes that are the hallmark of every Island Packet, along with innovative new features and stunning good looks that will further reinforce Island Packet’s position as America’s Cruising Yacht Leader.

From the integral bow platform to the spacious stern boarding area, the 440’s deck abounds with features owners will appreciate.

Exclusive Island Packet designed and patented SeaSafe™ anchor rollers provide fully captive, low chafe guides for chain and rode for quick anchor deployment and secure stowage. A foredeck hatch provides access to a large chain locker separated from the interior by a watertight bulkhead, while a recessed foredeck with bulwarks, uncluttered sidedecks, and full length cabin top handrails provide safe footing and security on deck.

The Cetol® finished teak trim and cap rails impart an elegant look while easy to clean exterior surfaces, modern materials technology, and side deck drains scuppered to the boot stripe help minimize maintenance. The broad transom platform with integrally molded steps makes boarding safe and simple while a concealed swim ladder makes this a gracious entryway or lounging area. An ergonomically designed cockpit provides comfortable seating either underway or for socializing at anchor. The geared rack and pinion steering system, proven through millions of miles of all types of cruising, provides sensitive and responsive control with rugged reliability and a minimum of maintenance.

Navigational electronics, including knot meter,  depth sounder, and wind indicator, are located in the integrally molded companionway pod for easy viewing from the cockpit. Additional space for electronics is provided in the wheel pedestal. Four harness padeyes, cockpit accessible sail control lines with line bins, two helm area storage bins, and two large seat lockers all combine for cruising practicality and comfort.
