Baltic Yachts

Baltic Yachts advocates composite construction by using the materials to build yachts. In 1973, a group of five men collaborated with locals from the Bosund, Finland area to build a light displacement sailboat to perform better than the competitors and make the sailing experience enjoyable for cruising and racing sailors. Today, the yachts are highly individualized and benefit from on-site design and engineering groups working with customers. At Baltic, design starts out as an iterative process to determine performance and weight. Baltic also has its own control system for accurate weight and center of gravity calculations that solidifies the design for use in construction. The lamination process allows for less resin usage. Yachts produced by Baltic can measure up to and over 200 feet in size.

CNB Yachts

CNB Yachts are manufactured in Bordeaux, France, on the shores of the Garonne River. Formed in 1987, CNB is part of the Beneteau group. CNB has the capability of producing both custom and semi-custom sailing yachts. The semi-custom line offers three yacht sizes from which to choose. Yacht sizes at CNB fall between 65 and 105 feet overall. Over eighty percent of CNB’s fleet is exported. The production management is governed by a CNB-developed software package. CNB gives clients the choice to have a yacht built in either aluminum or composite materials. For composite construction, CNB has a building where vacuum-infused resin is used in advanced composite building. In-water testing is possible at CNB, with a sufficiently deep 984-foot waterfront quay.

Derector’s yachts have been around America’s Cup championships, and allowed owners to enjoy luxury yachting. Derecktor Florida is a leader in new material usage for trustworthy yacht performance, including using titanium. Derector has built sailing yachts from 58 feet to 150 feet in length from the 1970’s to the present.

Lagoon

Lagoon Yachts was a 1984 spin-off company from Jeanneau Advanced Technologies, a racing division of Jeanneau. Now Lagoon is a member of the Custom Yacht division of the Beneteau Group, with an intimate connection to CNB Yachts. Lagoon specializes in cruising catamarans, with custom monohulls and formerly racing multihull designs. Bordeaux, France is the location for Lagoon, who has an abundance of knowledge in strong, lightweight composite construction. After much technology research, Lagoon chose to direct their construction technique to resin infusion, which completely saturates fiberglass cloth layers to create a very solid hull. Lagoon yacht models are 38 feet to 67 feet in overall length, as well as larger custom catamarans. In the movie, “Waterworld,” two Lagoon 60-foot trimarans are featured.

Perini Navi Yachts

Perini Navi Yachts is the outcome of a creative person and his ability to innovate. Fabio Perini started his career in the paper industry, following his family’s lead. He invented an automated paper machinery product at age 17. Perini brought this technology in a modified form to the yachting industry. In 1983 Perini Navi began to construct mega vessels that could be controlled by a very small crew. The headquarters of Perini Navi are located in Viareggio, Italy, along with the Picchiotti facility. Other facilities exist in La Spezia, Italy, Tuzla, Turkey, and Rhode Island, USA. Perini Navi’s fleet of sailing yachts today measure from 80 feet to 210 feet in length. Perini Navi yachts feature a special sail system with in-house building of alloy masts, and intense weight control for speed.

Solaris Yachts

Solaris Yachts is the brand name of a family-owned yacht building company named Cantiere Serigi based in Aquileia, Italy. Semi-custom and special project custom sailing yachts are the focus of Solaris yachts. The Cantiere Serigi yard contains six parts: composite works, fitting, woodwork and painting, workshops, haul/launch area, and the head offices. The philosophy adhered to by Serigi includes building Solaris yachts with leading technology, and keeping the owner familiar with a Solaris yacht from design through launch. Mahogany, teak wood, and cherry wood are carefully chosen for the interior design of a Solaris yacht. The hulls are designed for performance, and construction yields a very light, strong, and insulated hull. Solaris yachts range from a 36-foot cruiser to a 90-foot special project.
