Boater's LIFE was present for the introduction and christening of the new Tiara 3000 Open at the Miami Boat Show. In our opinion, Tiara Yachts is one of the quality leaders in the marketplace. They have a tradition of producing a high quality boat, and we have been looking forward to this 3000 Open introduction for several months. She is yet another example of Tiara Yacht's commitment to excellence. I am sure you will agree when you see her yourself.
Bob Slikkers, President, and Dan Springer, VP of New Product Development, at Tiara were on hand to show us around.
She's a totally New Boat to the Open Line
 The 3000 Open is a new Boat from Tiara. She may eventually replace the 2900 classic, but she's not a redesign, she's a totally new and fresh from the drawing board.
Adding additional length overall and significantly greater beam, she now has the great look and feel consistent with the remainder of the Tiara' Open line the 42, 38, 36, and 32. It's also obvious that she is cruise and fish friendly.
As Dan Springer put it "She may be their baby sister, but when you go aboard she feels big. Quite big in fact. She's gutsy looking and can cruise as well as fish."
Once you step aboard this boat, you are not going to believe it's a 30 footer. The combination of LOA, Beam and Overall Design has created a boat that is extremely comfortable and spacious. She's is a strong contender to boats several feet larger in size.

And yet, she's retained the spirit and versatility of the 29. She can handle it all... cruising, fishing, crabbing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. From our point of view, an Open has to deliver on versatility - the boat needs to handle a lot of conditions and seas. And that requires high quality and sea worthiness. In this regard, she delivers. She is rugged and sporty and delivers on an Open's promise of flexibility. With plenty of fish features for the more sporting owner. She is sporty, flexible and performs extremely well.

A Big Open Aft Deck Makes it All Possible
Her big open aft deck makes it all possible. She's outfitted with all the features a serious angler would expect to find on a boat this size as standard equipment or easily installed options.
What Else Makes Her Work?
Let's take a closer look and see what else makes her such a great new addition from Tiara. Tiara took the opportunity to add some more length and certainly more beam to the new design.
The composite windshield and integrated hardtop design are new. They moved the window vents up to the top of the boat and removed several of the windshield supports so now instead of 3 or 4 separate panes there is just one support right down the middle allowing visibility that is just incredible.
This is a great example of taking the Tiara Open line to the next level with regards to just how versatile an Open model can be. In the interior, she sports a more cruising and more sociable layout than the current 2900. She has the ability to sleep four, roomy seating for five people, a very large head with a large shower for a boat this size, lots of storage and a drawer style refrigerator.

Tiara Yachts ended up with a boat that will perform extremely well (see Tiara Performance Statistics on next page). We can't wait to try her out on the water ourselves and hope to cover that for you in a later article. The Tiara 3000 Open is sporty for her size - and she is a big, Big ... 30-foot boat. We think she's an excellent trade up to inboard for current outboard boaters as well. The new 3000 Open looks like she is all Tiara, with her modified V-Hull consistent with the other Tiara Open designs. That is a good thing. You can't get better than a proven design.
Beam has a lot to do with it and design elements . Seating is positioned to deliver a sense of openness both in the interior and in the exterior.

The Exterior is all Tiara
There may be a lot of "new" to the 3000 Open, but not to worry. She still has the traditional fully functional open layout that we have all come to know and love from Tiara. And the shear of the boat is now consistent with the rest of their Open Line.
The exterior is all Tiara with a swept shear and a reverse transom. Many other details identify the 3000 Open as a member of the Tiara family. As Dan Springer said "If you pay special attention to the hardtop and windshield, I am sure you will agree that not only is she going to function extremely well but it looks awesome." We agree.
The Interior and Cockpit are Innovative
 Beginning at the forward end of the cockpit with terrific visibility forward there is an integrated composite hardtop windshield system that gives both outstanding visibility of the water ahead but natural ventilation while underway.
The helm seat is large enough for two and adjusts for maximum comfort. To port is a forward-facing seat / prep center combo. In typical Tiara Yacht's tradition, the helm is smart with all functions positioned conveniently. The patented tilt-away feature allows for simple access for maintenance or any additions to the abundant standard displays.
When you combine the new helm instrumentation, three double wide seats, a ton of storage, a cockpit bait and tackle prep center, optional pull down seats in the cockpit and a transom bait well you have a boat with a ton of great features.
Cabin Provides Flexibility in Use
Below deck is amazing. It too provides flexibility in use. And, the living space has expanded greatly. The first thing you will notice is the traditional Tiara Yacht's teak surfaces and large U-shaped lounge seating. Now talking about flexibility, with a removable dinette table there is plenty of room for a family meal. Without the table, the settee converts into an additional sleeping space providing an additional queen berth. That is a total of two queen berths! And, the master is forward - a large double berth - perfect for a night on the water. So you have room for two couples, a family meal and a game of Monopoly with the kids.
 A Roomy Head
... you Can Live With
Unusual on a boat this size, a large roomy head is to port and features a Vacuflush toilet and a stand up shower.
The galley (photo above right) is to starboard and fully equipped for meal preparation for short stays aboard.
A large counter top is home to a single burner stove top and stainless steel sink. There is a microwave, and a drawer refrigerator allows for easy access to beverages, condiments and your favorite appetizers.
Storage is excellent. A hanging locker to port and the U lounge seat-backs lift to expose cavernous storage underneath the forward berth.

Performance to Fit the Boat
On the subject of performance, Dan Springer explained that "The Tiara 3000 Open with a standard 8.1 liter gas engine from Crusader and has a cruise speed of 28.5 knots and a top end of 35.5 knots or 41 mph. Cruise speed is very efficient at 24.5 knots with 200 miles of range."
 Tiara Yacht's 300 Open selected Crusader Captain's Choice Series 8.1 MPI engine with a new multi-port fuel injected big block. It features GM’s latest in automotive technology adapted for the marine industry. Excellent for heavy duty applications, the 8.1 makes 385 horsepower.
Tiara delivers the right combination of power in a boat without overpowering the boat and wasting fuel. Engines are matched to the hull based on a performance target. The Tiara 3000 Open delivers excitement, excellent cruising speeds, acceleration and a wide open throttle speed right on target.
After taking a hard look at the new Tiara 3000, I think you will agree that she can be compared to boats two to three feet larger. Most of all, it's obvious that this Tiara is not a boat you want to leave sitting at the dock. Her performance characteristics are too good to go unused.
