Fleming Yachts are built under the guidance of Tony Fleming, a former boatbuilder and new development technical director. Tony Fleming is still involved in the manufacture of every pilothouse motoryacht in his own company, started in 1985. The Tung Hwa shipyard, slightly over 12 miles from Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan, is the exclusive builder of Fleming yachts. Sizes of Fleming yachts are at 55 feet and 75 feet long, and the shipyard can produce up to 15 boats per year for the smaller yacht. The hulls are specifically chosen to be of semi-displacement design for optimized speed. Thorough testing of the yacht is performed in a test tank. Fleming yachts feature two hull-to-deck joints and special attention to reduction of noise and vibration. Periodicals have given strong praises to Fleming yachts.

Nordhavn - Nordhavn Yachts

Nordhavn Yachts yachts are constructed by Pacific Asian Enterprises, headquartered in Dana Point, California. Three men started Pacific Asian Enterprises in 1976: Jim Leishman, Dan Streech and Joe Meglen, experienced in Taiwanese boat construction. The men first became famous for building Mason sailboats, but then desired to satisfy the needs of a long-distance cruiser. Today, Nordhavn yachts are available in 35 feet to 72 feet in overall length. Nordhavn yachts offer the choice of full displacement hulls or semi-displacement hulls, based on the particular requirements for the owner. The International Marine Certification Institute of Belgium has certified the Nordhavn yachts, and Nordhavn yachts can be built as CE Certified upon special request for those wishing to import into Europe.

Nordic Tugs

Nordic Yachts look surprisingly different from a typical cruising yacht of today, since they bear a striking resemblance to a tugboat! Nordic Tugs, started in 1979 by brothers Jerry and Jim Husted with Gail Davis, makes these motor yachts in Burlington, Washington. The design for the yachts is based on a prototype that Blue Water Boats of Woodinville, Washington built; Nordic Tugs eventually took over the manufacturing facilities and staff of Blue Water. The tugs have a link to Norwegian boating in the 19th century in structure and quality. Nordic Tugs are constructed with fiberglass semi-displacement hulls, which have hand-layered lamination. Nordic Tugs over the years have ranged from 26 feet to 54 feet long, with styles such as convertible, two-cabin, and northern/all climate within the sizes.
