Sea Ray’s gel-coat finishes provide superior UV protection and a long-lasting high gloss that won’t fade or dull out.
FANUC P-200 robots use lasers to guide them, then spray precisely the right consistency over every part of the surface. Less-exacting methods can result in coatings that are too thick and will crack, or too thin and don’t cover the part.
Sea Ray's Standards Demand a Higher Level of Precision
Sea Ray’s computerized 5-axis mill, the largest in the industry, uses CAD/CAM data to precisely create master patterns from foam molds that are accurate to 1/2000 of an inch. As a result, their hulls are perfectly symmetrical. That really has made a tremendous impact on the fit and finish of every component that goes into a Sea Ray.
Designed and Tested Unlike any other Production Boat

Not only do you have about 15 navel architects designing the boats for Sea Ray, but when they are done, they are able to push a button and have a robot route out a small prototype boat model for testing.
The custom mega-yacht builders used to be the only ones to do that. Sea Ray is employing technology so they can have a fully accurate model, the size of a desk, for tank testing. They can analyze how she floats and how she pulls. They can determine mathematically how much horsepower she needs to get the best ride out of the hull. They can tweak a hull design before the mold is made. All of this translates to a better designed boat.

Sea Ray's testing generates the data to determine the right engine for a boat before they even put one in; they can determine how much fuel it will burn, how fast it will be and the type of water it can handle. All without making a mold or popping hull number one ... through model testing and technology. |

Other boat manufacturers build a boat and then drop engines into it to see what is going on. Sea Ray builds its boats around the engine. A very unique approach in the industry.
Fit and finish: Incredible laminate work. In everything from the headliner to the stringers including the hull.
Sea Ray's investment in the latest technology also allows them to build stronger, safer and more reliable boats. Laser-guided robots apply uniform gel-coats of the exact consistency and thickness to the hull and deck.
Sea Ray's robots control the fit and finish with each cut they make, and their RealData quality control process allows them to thoroughly inspect and track every part.
What Else Makes Sea Ray Very Unique and Different?
What else? It’s the people that Sea Ray employs. It's their management style. It's the people who are working on the boats.
Sea Ray rewards people for doing a good job and for finding a better, higher quality way to do it. If a fitter putting in a galley thinks there is a better, more efficient way of getting the job done that either saves money or makes it more effective and stronger … his ideas are heard. All employees contribute to a better boat, and they care.
Sea Ray's employees at its eight manufacturing facilities are committed to ensuring that Sea Ray customers are ultimately and totally satisfied. That is why Sea Ray's customer satisfaction ratings are among the highest in the world.
If the employees are not enough, Sea Ray has a dealer network which is among the best in the industry. Sea Ray’s Dealer Network consists of the largest and most conveniently located group of dealers in the country, including their Master Dealer Network. They are experienced and knowledgeable professionals who are devoted to providing Sea Ray customers the best possible sales, service and experience.
J.D. Power's findings demonstrated that Sea Ray owners were among those with the highest confidence that the company would "stand behind the products." The findings also showed that Sea Ray owners were most likely to say they would recommend purchasing a Sea Ray and were "most likely to purchase another boat from Sea Ray for themselves."
Founded in 1959, Sea Ray was one of the first boat builders to use fiberglass and other high-tech composite materials in the construction of pleasure boats. They have not lost that drive to modernize and find a better way to build boats. The winner ... happy customers.
